Santa Barbara Sheet Music Art & Music Event!
Thursday, November
3rd, 2011
6-8pm
Santa Barbara Sheet Music participated in an evening of art and music on the first Thursday of the month, November 3rd, from 6 - 8pm, put on by its new staff and owners, Augustine Detar & Vicki Hays! Just steps away from other 1st Thursday locations, on the corner of Figueroa and Santa Barbara Street. Thanks to all that came out and supported our artists! Please let us know if you would like us to continue this event!
Live music will be performed on the balcony, featuring guitarist Kenny Sultan, as well as other local musicians.
Art from local artists, Alvaro Suman, Andrea Sanchez, and Molly Hahn, will be gracing the walls, to be enjoyed all month long.
Alvaro Suman -
"Alvaro has exhibited his work in the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City; Cuernavaca, Mexico; Casa de la Raza, Santa Barbara; Los Angeles Art Museum; San Francisco Art Museum; among others. Alvaro’s art reflects a style that varies from magical realism to fantastic surrealism and one can clearly see his indigenous Mexican background."
A native of New Mexico and graduate of Arizona State with a Bachelor's of Fine Art in painting and drawing, Andrea Sanchez, regularly exhibits all over Santa Barbara. She says about her process, "For me, the intention behind painting is vital, my goal is to create artwork that is beyond myself, while searching for truths in this world and my own life." Visit her webpage for more info at: http://www.andreasanchezfineart.com/
Molly Hahn -
Mollycules™ is the brainchild of multimedia artist Molly Hahn.
Molly is the illustrator & author of the children's books, "All the Things I Can Do!" and "Under the Sneep Tree: The Wamboozling of a Village". She has been teaching illustration, cartooning, and animation workshops to elementary schools since 2004 and has over six years of professional experience working as an illustrator and designer. 2010 Recipient of the SCWBI Regional Grant (Santa Barbara/Ventura).
Molly’s next children’s book, "Izzy's Ukulele Adventure", will be released December 5th.
